- It is a very effective exercise for the development of back and wing muscles. Targeting the entire back chain, the Smith Machine Bent Over Row targets the latissimus dorsi, infraspinatus, trapezius, posterior deltoids and rhomboids. It is the same as the bent-over exercise that is often used in strength training. This exercise can be programmed in low reps for strength or higher reps for muscle and strength endurance.
